This is beautiful. And your description of Cliff and Christmas is perfect. His Christmas village and the Christmas songs from Bing Crosby were filled with nostalgia of the builder generation he identified with the most. What a treasure he was to all.

Love your perspective about navigating grief at holidays. Being gentle with oneself is something I needed to hear. I wonder if most of us would benefit greatly by giving the ropes of our lives some slack.

I'm sure a little slack would be helpful to all of us!

This is a beautiful post. Grief and joy do coexist in life. Thank you for calling it out and helping others allow it and allowing it with in yourself. XO

Doraine, thanks for this beautiful post. I love the idea of these two disparate ideas, grief and joy, coexisting. I know it to be true but often forget that we need the freedom to express both.

Yes, they do coexist. It is sometimes a challenge to hold both at the same time, but so important to be willing to express both. I like the way you put that.

Oh Doraine, this is good to hear on many levels. That joy and grief can manage to live together. I am so glad to receive your posts and to know, also, how you are doing. IF I could I might like to learn the meditation you offer but am not sure of the timing of if I would be at all sessions. But I know it would be healthy and calming and seeing you in person on Zoom would be just a beautiful gift. I admire how you have lived this journey and followed during those terrible times of new Covid. May Christmas joy live in your heart as often as is possible and then, just like you said, deal with your heart however it feels right in that moment. God is so good. Happy Thanksgiving and onward to the beautiful times of the Christmas holidays. Janet Clare F.

Janet, it is so lovely to hear from you. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I would love to have you in the meditation class, if the dates are workable. It would be nice to see you, too. Have a wonderful Christmas season. Doraine
